I. Introduction

Welcome to Eugene Fencers Club’s Code of Conduct. This document outlines the expectations, guidelines, and standards of behavior for all members and participants of our club. By joining our club, you agree to abide by these rules and uphold the values and principles that define our community.

1.1 Purpose

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to foster a positive and inclusive environment within our club. It promotes respect, integrity, and fair play among all members, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

1.2 Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all members, including but not limited to players, coaches, volunteers, officials, parents, and spectators. It governs behavior during classes, practices club activities, events, meetings, and any interactions representing the club.

 

II. Responsibilities

2.1 Member Responsibilities

  • Respect: Treat others with respect, courtesy, and consideration, regardless of differences in opinion, background, or ability.
  • Integrity: Act honestly, ethically, and with integrity at all times, avoiding any behavior that could harm the club’s reputation or values.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all club policies, rules, and regulations, including those related to fair play, sportsmanship, and safety.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a professional demeanor and represent the club positively in all interactions, both on and off the field.

2.2 Parent Responsibilities

  • I will respect players, coaches, officials, spectators, and families at all times.
  • I will respect the decisions of officials or coaches.
  • I will model good sportsmanship for all youth participants.
  • I will not belittle or ridicule anyone involved in a youth sporting event–in public, private, in-person, or online.
  • I will do my part to keep sports fun and positive for every youth participant.

2.3 Leadership Responsibilities

Role Modeling: Lead by example and demonstrate exemplary behavior in line with
the club’s values and expectations.

Enforcement: Enforce the Code of Conduct fairly and consistently, addressing any
violations promptly and appropriately.

Communication: Keep members informed about the Code of Conduct, its
importance, and any updates or changes.

  • I will put the emotional and physical well-being of youth participants ahead of a personal desire to win.
  • I will follow all safety protocols of the league.
  • I will under no circumstances engage in an argument with a referee or official. Any discussions or conversations with officials or referees will be in a respectful tone.
  • I will not belittle or ridicule anyone involved in a youth sporting event-in public, private, in person, or online.
  • I will treat opposing coaches and athletes with respect and represent my community in a positive manner.

3.1 Respect and Fair Play

  • Respect for Others: Treat all individuals with dignity, respect their rights and
    opinions, and refrain from discriminatory or derogatory remarks or actions.
  • Fair Play: Play by the rules, follow instructions from officials and coaches, and
    compete fairly and honestly without cheating or unsportsmanlike conduct.
  • Conflict Resolution: Resolve conflicts and disputes respectfully, using constructive
    communication and seeking peaceful resolutions.

3.2 Safety and Well-being

• Physical Safety: Prioritize the safety and well-being of yourself and others,
following safety guidelines and protocols during club activities.

• Emotional Well-being: Be mindful of the emotional impact of your words and
actions on others, avoiding bullying, harassment, or intimidation in any form.

• Inclusivity: Embrace diversity and inclusivity, welcoming individuals of all
backgrounds and abilities into the club community.

 

IV. Reporting and Enforcement

4.1 Reporting Violations

• Reporting Procedure: Report any violations of the Code of Conduct to [Club
Leadership/Designated Person] promptly and with sufficient detail.

• Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of individuals
involved in reported incidents, unless disclosure is necessary for investigation or
resolution.

4.2 Enforcement

• Investigation: Club leadership will investigate reported violations thoroughly,
gathering relevant information and hearing from all parties involved.
• Consequences: Consequences for Code of Conduct violations may include
warnings, probation, suspension, or expulsion from the club, depending on the
severity and recurrence of the behavior.
